Dear PNLIT friends and well-wishers,
Warm greetings to all of you on Independence Day!
As we enter the 80th year of our nation’s independence, we are reminded that freedom also comes with a responsibility to care for all the places in the city we call home.
For PNLIT, our commitment to Puttenahalli Lake continues. We remain vigilant and continue to report and follow up on anything that could harm the lake, whether it is sewage inflow, poor upkeep, dumping, encroachment or other activities that threaten it. We continue to work with the GBA South Corporation to bring such issues to their attention and seek timely action.
Our hope this Independence Day is that Bengaluru’s lakes, their catchment areas, and the channels that feed and connect them, will enjoy freedom from sewage, encroachment, concretisation and neglect. May our lakes be healthy, living ecosystems that can hold rain, recharge our groundwater, support biodiversity and enrich our neighbourhoods.
Today is also a very special day for PNLIT as we celebrate the 80th birthday of one of our Founder Trustees, Mr O. P. Ramaswamy.
OPR has been an important part of PNLIT’s journey from its early days. We wish him good health, happiness, wonderful times with family and friends, and a fulfilling year ahead, and also many more years of his energy and wisdom enriching the causes he cares about.

As we celebrate our freedom, let us continue to do our bit to protect the freedom and future of our lakes.
