Making everyday, Earth Day

The first time we celebrated Earth Day was in 2010, to publicize the revival of our Puttakere among  residents in the area. At that point, we had no idea that we were in for a long haul.

In fact, even when we registered PNLIT in June that year, we did so to assist BBMP and ensure that the lake doesn't relapse. Signing an agreement with them in May 2011 and becoming official custodians of the lake meant no turning, or looking, back for us, trustees. Since then, the lake, and we, have come a long way.

Thanks to all who have been a part of this wonderful journey. We look forward to your continued support. Here is a glimpse of life at the lake this April 2022, but there's nothing like visiting it and seeing the wonders for yourself!

It does indeed take a community to protect and nurture not just a lake but all natural resources. Wherever we are, let's do our bit to make the world a better place for our children to grow and flourish. Let them not have to fight the battles that we should have fought to make life on earth easier, cleaner, greener.

Let's celebrate each day as Earth Day!

Greetings to all.

Earth Day greetings!

Today, 22nd April, is Earth Day. Google has brought out a beautiful doodle featuring Dr. Jane Goodman that is full of hope and promise. She says, "Each one of us matters, has a role to play, and makes a difference." (to earth, to life).

This is our wish for the day - that each of us may realise that we matter and have a role to play to make ours a better world.

Earth Day greetings to you and your family.

We are happy to have received this throwback picture from Sanjay M, one of PNLIT's early volunteers. "Feeling nostalgic about a pic I came across today, of a pic I took at Puttenahalli Lake in March 2015. Cheers to a greener, purer and brighter future." he said

PNLIT is a winner in Earth Day Network's शहर GREEN करो Contest

PNLIT is happy to inform you that we are one of the winners of Earth Day Network-India's शहर GREEN करो - It’s Our Turn to Lead Contest. The result was announced today. The other winners are from Kozhikode, Mumbai, Srinagar, Raipur and Varanasi and can be seen on the Earth Day Network website hereDetails about PNLIT's entry can be seen on the Green Cities India Facebook page here.

To commemorate the 45th anniversary of Earth Day (celebrated on 22nd April) this year, Earth Day Network-India, in February, had called for entries from 45 cities on how to make their cities "Swachh" and "Green". Each of the contestants had to register with a specific task and accomplish the goal within 45 days. PNLIT's entry was on the pre-monsoon lake cleaning drive we had organized on 28th March. This particular cleaning drive had been sponsored by the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) and the event was attended by the KSPCB Chairman, Dr. Vaman Acharya. Another dignitary who accepted our invitation to visit the lake that day was the Upa Lokayukta, Hon'ble Justice Sri Subhash B. Adi. It was truly special for us to welcome these guests as it was to see our volunteers picking up plastic and other trash scattered on the lake bed with vigour and enthusiasm.

Heartfelt thanks to all our well-wishers, for the unstinting support to Puttenahalli Lake and to PNLIT

Dance at Dusk at Puttenahalli Lake

Earth Day greetings to all! Today, 22nd April, is Earth Day which is celebrated the world over. People come together especially today  to show their support to the environment, to Mother Nature.

To acknowledge our indebtedness to this bounty called Nature, PNLIT is happy to host an event called Dance at Dusk in association with the Snehadhara Foundation. We are holding the programme on the coming Saturday to enable adults to participate as well, along with their children.

Date: 26th April 2014 (Saturday)
Time: 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Place: Puttenahalli Lake, at the gazebo
What is Dance at Dusk? Here's a brief note on the event from Snehadhara:

Dance at Dusk

We at Snehadhara believe that movements have inner meanings and purposes along with their outer expressive and communicative qualities. Synchronizing this mind-body relation is essential for healing and growth. To build this synchrony, it becomes necessary that we hone a body that is awake- a sensing, emoting and thinking body.

Presenting 'Dance at Dusk', an evening of dance and movements, that explores the innate interdependence, rhythm and interconnection that exist within us through the metaphors of nature.

The session will involve a community dance with adults and children and will explore synchrony, expression, rhythm and cohesion.

Discover the rhythm in you. Revive yourself. Revive the Environment.
Please register by 4.45 p.m. Participants of all ages are welcome.
